The Helpline Center serves thousands of people every year by connecting individuals to resources and support, connecting local agency volunteers, and offering hope to individuals with thoughts of suicide. The mission of the Helpline Center is making lives better by giving support, offering hope and creating connections all day, every day. The Helpline Center is the only entity in the state that provides a certified crisis line through the American Association of Suicidology.

The HOPE Center was established in 2010 as an outreach project of First United Methodist Church in downtown Rapid City, South Dakota. Initial planning for the project was driven by an expressed need of those living in poverty and/or without homes, neighborhood churches and businesses, and other non-profit agencies to have a day center in Rapid City that would be able to provide basic day services for those living in poverty and without homes.
